Anita Rullens

While living in the southwestern states, Anita observed first-hand the environmental impact of living under the desert sun. She enrolled in the Aesthetics College and obtained her state licensure. Her studies included holistic, clinical and medical skin care therapies. After her graduation she began working with a local Plastic Surgeon and closely observed a multitude of surgical procedures of the face and body. This helped her understand human physiology and the required knowledge to determine the appropriate and effective treatment courses for various concerns and conditions. During that time she assisted with minor surgical procedures of the face and body. She exerienced all the opportunities of medical aesthetics, such as dermaplaning, advanced chemical peels including tricholoracitic acid (TCA), Jessners and phenol, laser and light therapies, and performed injectables such as sclerotherapy and fillers.

Anita’s fascination with the science and research of product ingredients and selecting the most result-oriented product lines available led to her success in the medical skin care arena. With over 9000 patients serviced in the surgical practice and skincare spa, Anita set the standards in medical aesthetics and began training newer Aestheticians on the policies and procedures of working in a medical practice.

After 25 years in the USA, she returned to the Netherlands and accumulated her 25 years plus past medical aesthetics knowledge of science and treatments to develop ArteBella Skin Health. ArteBella offers an environment of tranquilty and peacefulness, coupled with a love for nature and a philosophy of inner beauty and health.

Kira Ptak

Kira has always had a broad set of interests, but a common thread has always been nature! In her early youth she devoured books on all kinds of subjects, including mythologies and natural science. It was only natural she took high school classes on classical civilisations, Latin and Ancient Greek alongside physics and biology. When not in school you would find her in the garden or reading more books on herbology.

Studying at the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) on the Isle of Skye, she learned Gaelic and took an interest in Celtic culture. Now studying at UBC, she is able to pursue forest science alongside the arts. It comes as no surprise that she is now majoring in Forest Communities, studying the interconnected nature of life communities. She enjoys working with plants, the earth’s gifts, in order to promote holistic health in a responsible way.

Bowen Island quickly took a hold of her heart. Though young and finding her place in the city through modern university life, she is an island girl at heart. She hopes to bring her love for nature to the community through her experience and love for the healing properties found in nature.

Instructed by her mother’s teacher, she had Aesthetics Training from the Aesthetics Institute in Arizona, and learned all about the skin, and her interest in nature and healing led her to combining treatments, with customized herbal essences, oils, and healing touch. Her interest and background in science and biology marries into her interest in philosophy and art. To her, these are not separate concepts, but are different sides of the same coin. It is her goal to assist and guide, and to turn wellness into an art form, guided by a philosophy of strong ethics and care: for the client and for the world at large.

Registered Acupuncturist, Traditional Chinese Medicine Herbalist (TCM) and Nutritionist

Heidi graduated from the University of Portsmouth (UK) in 2010 with a first class BSc Honours degree in Acupuncture. With a love for working with musculoskeletal pain, she underwent further training in the use of guasha, cupping, moxibustion and electro-acupuncture to enhance her acupuncture treatments. She found that these therapies in combination helped to speed the healing process and enhance pain relief.

Working with chronic and systemic conditions, she became interested in the role that diet could play as a means to support therapy at home. Heidi trained as a Nutritional Therapist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London (UK), and received the award for Clinical Excellence upon graduation in 2014. Her knowledge of nutrition helps her to understand someone’s dietary choices, interpret the effect that this may have on their health, and negotiate achievable changes to support their health outcomes.

After moving to Vancouver with her family in 2015, Heidi decided to study Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, and has been awarded her provincial license as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner (TCM.P) in 2021. This means that she now has a triple licence as an Acupuncturist, Nutritionist and a TCM Herbalist.

“I am in awe of the beauty of Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine and the potential it offers in customized medicine”.
